FREEPORT -- On Sunday, April 23, more than 350 high school servant leaders, their families, teachers, mentors, and guests attended the annual year-end celebration that emphasizes the significance of the Highland Community College High School Servant Leadership Program.  Devoted to training local high school juniors and seniors to be leaders and servers throughout their lives, the program has completed its twentieth year.

Thirteen area schools participated in the two-year program. Thirty-one students were recognized for a year of perfect attendance. Of those 31 students, eight achieved perfect attendance for both their junior and senior years.

Three keynote senior speakers were chosen by their fellow peers to convey what servant leadership means to them to the banquet attendees. Those speakers were Patrick Gustafson of Aquin, Cristian George of Freeport, and Cameron Timm of Forreston.

Leadership Institute Scholarship winners were JoAnna Dillion of the Warren Chapter, Heather Musser of the Stockton Chapter, Shelby Fryar of the Eastland Chapter, and Shelby Skiles of the West Carroll Chapter.
