Highland featured at State Fair for "Innovation in Illinois"

FREEPORT—Highland Community College has been invited to participate in the Governor’s “Innovation in Illinois” tent at this year’s Illinois State Fair in Springfield, August 14 - 23. The college’s new wind turbine technician training program will be exhibited to fairgoers.
Sponsored by Governor Pat Quinn, the tent will “showcase the exciting innovations that colleges and universities have been developing”, according to the Governor’s office.
“We have been pleased with the attention the program has been getting,” Said Scott Anderson, dean of business and technology. ”It has really put HCC on the map.”
Highland Community College offers more than 60 programs of applied and transfer degrees, community education and business training. In addition to comprehensive academic programming, Highland provides theatre, art and music opportunities for the community. Highland Community College is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission and is a member of the North Central Association’s Academic Quality Improvement Program. Located in Freeport and Elizabeth, Highland is conveniently positioned in the tri-state region with access to several major metropolitan areas.
