Highland Community College Celebrates 51st Commencement

The northwest Illinois community and friends of Highland Community College are invited to join the 2014 graduates and their families as they celebrate the 51st annual Commencement Ceremony to be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, May 17, 2014.

The address to the class of 2014 will be given by Alan Wenzel, director of Leadership Programs and retired Highland speech instructor. During his years at Highland, he taught a variety of classes from Interpersonal Communication to Public Speaking, Argumentation to Leadership and Nonverbal Communication to Film Appreciation.

The ceremony will be held outdoors on the beautiful HCC campus in Freeport. Commencement will take place on the plaza between the Marvin-Burt Liberal Arts Center and Natural Science and Health Center. Guest parking will be located in parking lot D on the south side of campus outside of the Natural Science and Health Center.

The College is expecting a large number of participating graduates, as such seating will be limited and available on a first-come, first-served basis.

In case of inclement weather, the ceremony will be held in the Larry F. Kahl Gymnasium located in the YMCA/Sports Center on Highland's campus. Due to the large number of graduates, tickets will be required to attend the ceremony if held in the Sports Center.
