Highland to host Northwest Illinois College Fair and career exhibit

FREEPORT —The Northwest Illinois College Fair and “HCC Pathways to Careers Fair” will be held from 6:30 to 8 p.m. on Monday, October 28, on the second floor of Highland Community College’s Student/Conference Center.

High school students and their parents will have the opportunity to explore career options as well as visit with admissions representatives from over 60 colleges. A Scholarship Fair will be held by representatives from the Illinois Student Assistance Commission (ISAC) throughout the evening in room H210 and will include a “Scholarship Talk” at 7 p.m. A special presentation on financial aid will take place at 7:30 p.m.

According to Highland’s Enrollment Outreach Specialist Karl Richards, the inclusion of a career fair with an already successful college fair allows parents and students to make more informed decisions regarding their education.

“Young people and their parents will get the most up-to-date information about job possibilities now and in the future from professionals engaged in their field,” said Richards. “They can then go explore the institutions that provide education in the very same evening.”
