Highland Community College announces fall community education courses

FREEPORT�The HCC Community Education department and Business Institute have announced the fall schedule of personal and professional development courses, as well as upcoming Tours de Jour events. Whether interested in a one-time session or an ongoing learning experience, students may choose from a variety of topics. funny cartoons pictures

Food sanitation courses for those requiring professional certification begin on August 23 and again on October 18 at the main Highland campus. Certification is also offered in Elizabeth at the JoDaviess/Carroll Area Vocational Center beginning August 27 and October 22. Pre-registration and a textbook are required for this one-credit class. funny pictures

Other professional certifications include the Forklift Operator Safety course. Individuals must test on-site at their facility on either October 16 or October 18 to earn the certification. Interested students should contact 815.291.6981 for more information on working through their employer for hands-on testing. funny images

Notable additions to the fall offerings will include online social networking, �How to be thin, rich and happy in just three minutes,� and an introduction to Chinese (Mandarin) language. Remaining courses will examine planning for retirement, salsa dancing, communication strategies and conflict resolution. funny photos

As the first of many excursions, Tours de Jour will visit Chicago Museums on August 11. The $40 fee will not include admission to the individual attractions. Upcoming trips to Woodfield and downtown Chicago are also scheduled in November and December, respectively. Call Sally Spudich at 815.232.7988 for seat availability.
