According to Director of Nursing, Dr. Shannon Lizer, In light of the significant shortage of Emergency Medical Services providers in rural areas within HCCs district, this program will fill a critical need. It should provide rural residents with an opportunity to enter local ambulance and fire protection systems, pursue formalized training at Highland, and possibly spur interest in pursuing other healthcare professions where there are also shortages of personnel. funny pictures

Trustees welcomed newly elected student trustee Austin Walker of Shannon. Rob Urish and David Shockey were sworn in after each was recently reelected to another six-year term. The newly reorganized board elected David Shockey of Ridott as chair and Rob Urish of Mount Morris as vice chair. Terri Grimes was re-appointed to the position of secretary. Trustees also established their meeting schedule, which is available online at funny images

Vice President of Administrative Services, Jill Janssen, was appointed Compliance Officer for the Colleges Identity Theft Prevention Program and will lead the effort to implement a federally mandated identity theft prevention program aimed at ensuring that the college implements policies and processes to protect the personally identifiable information of students and staff. According to Highland President Dr. Joe Kanosky, The College has already taken numerous steps to protect such information. This program will assist in the continuation of this effort and ensure that the College is compliant with federally mandated procedures.

The lecture hall in the Natural Science and Health Center will now be known as the Charles Endress Lecture Hall in honor of the late Charles Endress of Pearl City. The board approved this naming opportunity based on a generous gift from the Charles Endress Estate. Mr. Endress served as both principal and superintendent for the Lena-Winslow school district from 1969 1978. His brother, Dennis, served as an HCC Trustee for over 17 years and his nephew, James Endress, is currently a board member. funny photos
