The Highland Cougar Bowling Teams head to Bloomington, MN this weekend to compete in their 1st Conference Meet of the season. HCC is part of the largest conference in the Nation which includes 20 different Colleges and Universities - the Wisconsin Collegiate Bowling Conference. The conference includes bowling powerhouse UW-Whitewater as well as University of Iowa, Iowa State, UW-Madison, U of M-Manketo, Milwaukee University, University of Minnesota, MSOE, North Dakota State, UW-Osh Kosh, UW-Platteville, UW-Stevens Point, Winona State, Elmhurst University, Carthage, UW- Eau Claire, and UW- Green Bay. Highland is the smallest school in the conference.
"We have put in two solid weeks of practice just for this tournament and this demanding lane condition. The lane condition that they will be using in Minnesota this weekend will not yield many strikes. There will be a definite importance on spare shooting... I just hope we bring our "A Game" so that we can compete with this field and hopefully knock off some of these teams.", said Highland’s Director of Bowling – Jeff Johnson
The format for this weekend’s tournament is 6 games on Saturday with 20 Baker-style games on Sunday. I will forward final results once they are presented to the coaching staff.
I thank all of you for your contribution to Highland Bowling. We have a special group on the team this year and our focus remains the same... an NJCAA National Championship and to make the USBC Sectionals which pair the top 64 ranked colleges and universities in the nation to compete for a USBC Collegiate national championship. Every bit of media attention is sincerely appreciated from the team’s standpoint and Highland Community College as well.
