Tim Hood

Tim Hood began serving as Vice President of Academic Services at Highland Community College in January 2011, a position he held until August 2014, when he was named Executive Vice President overseeing the day-to-day operations of the College.

In January 2015, HCC Trustees announced that Hood would become the next President of Highland beginning July 1, 2015 upon the retirement of Dr. Joe M. Kanosky.

Previously, Hood served as Dean of Corporate Training and Community Education at Kaskaskia College before becoming Vice President of Instructional Services there in March 2007. Prior to moving into educational administration, Hood was a faculty member at Southern Illinois University (SIU) from 2001-2005, and previously an Associate Professor at Madisonville Community College in Kentucky from 1993-2001. Before enrolling in graduate school, Hood was the general manager for an automobile dealership in southern Illinois and later became an officer for a media/marketing company that helped bring minor league baseball operations to Marion, Illinois.

Hood was an honors graduate from SIU with a Master of Science degree in organizational communication and is currently finishing his dissertation for a Ph.D. in instructional communication. As a past president of the Illinois Community College Chief Academic Officers (ICCCAO) organization, he is well connected with other college and university administrators throughout the State.

Tim and his wife, Valerie, are the parents of five daughters. The Hoods and their youngest daughter reside in Freeport and enjoy the geography and quality of life in northwest Illinois.
