Applying for a position at Highland:

If you are applying for an advertised position, please submit all information requested in the ad to ensure your application is complete and receives prompt attention.

Required documents typically include:

  • Cover letter referencing position
  • Resume
  • Unofficial copies of transcripts – official copies will be required upon hire
  • Three current letters of recommendation (faculty and administrative positions)
  • Names and phone numbers of three professional references (classified)

If you are applying for an unsolicited position, please submit a resume and cover letter addressing type(s) of position(s) you are interested in. These materials will be kept on file for six months.

Selection Procedure

Following the application deadline date for each vacancy, applications are pre-screened by the Office of Human Resources and then forwarded for committee review.

The screening committees are comprised of persons familiar with the department, the position and the hiring criteria. Those applicants selected for further consideration are invited to appear before the screening committee. Finalists may be invited for a second interview with members of our administration.

Approval by the President and Board of Trustees is required for employment with Highland Community College.

Testing and Skills Demonstrations – Candidates may be asked to demonstrate their relevant job skills by taking a written test, operating required equipment, making a presentation, or performing other position-related tasks.
