The
Royal Scots, under the direction of Allen Redford, are a mixed ensemble
vocal group. They specialize in vocal jazz, American Song classics
and a cappella singing. The Scots perform throughout the northwest
Illinois and southern Wisconsin. In addition to these community performances,
the Scots present a main stage production to full houses each semester.
In
recent years the Royal Scots have participated in various jazz festivals
and camps including the Western Michigan University Invitational
Vocal Jazz Festival, the St. Ambrose University Vocal Jazz Festival
and the Illinois State University Vocal Jazz Festival. The work
of the ensemble has been recognized as outstanding during these
festivals and as a result the group was invited in 1997 to perform
at the North American Vocal Jazz Festival at Carnegie Hall in New
York City.
