The 2003-2004 season is Coach Beth Buckwalter’s second year at Highland Community College in both volleyball and softball. In 2003, just her second year, she received the title of Arrowhead Conference Coach of the Year. She was the head coach for the Highland Cougar Women’s Basketball team in 1999-2000. Coach Buckwalter also has coaching experience at the high school level.

Coach Beth Buckwalter knows that no one plans to go on the court or field to make a mistake. However, mistakes can and do happen. She describes her coaching style as one of positive reinforcement. She expects players to have pride in playing all out, stay focused and determined.

Because academics are directly linked to collegiate sports, Coach Buckwalter’s players will learn the importance of both academics as well as sports. Students will also learn that hard work and determination are well worth the effort.

Coach Buckwalter lives in Freeport with her husband and their two kids, ages 8 and 5.
