Freeport – HCC Center

Free Classes

Preregistration is required for all classes. Enroll now.

 

  • GED classes and Basic Skills Building classes in reading, writing, and math are offered Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 9:00 a.m. to Noon; and Tuesday and Thursday from 6:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
  • Practice GED testing and Online GED instruction is available. Contact Jerelyn Forman for more information.
  • English as a Second Language (ESL) classes are held Monday and Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. to noon and Monday and Wednesday from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
  • Pronunciation classes are offered Thursdays from 1:00 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.
  • Basic Computer Literacy Basic 4-week classes are offered Tuesdays and Thursdays from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. (call for schedule).
  • Short-Term Job Training classes are offered Mondays and Wednesdays from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.
  • Constitution classes are offered the 1st and 2nd Thursday of every month except (Jan., July, Aug.) from 9:00 a.m. to Noon and 6:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

Location
We are located at Highland Community College in the Community Services Center. Click for a map.

Childcare
Free childcare services are offered at this location for children 0 to 5 years old whose parents are participating in the Even Start program.

Transportation
Free van transportation is offered to and from classes for people living within Freeport city limits.
