How
long will it take before I’m ready to take my GED test?
We offer several ways of helping you set a goal. You will take tests
when you first begin GED classes to establish your current grade
level. In addition, we provide official GED practice tests that
will help you determine when you’re ready to test.
How
old do I have to be before I can take the
GED test?
You must be 18 years old AND a resident of Illinois
for at least 30 days AND your high school class
must have already graduated or you must be 17 years old with an
official drop date from high school for at least one year. If further
assistance is required, contact
Regional
Office of Education.
How
many times can I retake a GED test?
Each
GED test has 3 forms. During the calendar year (Jan. - Dec.), you
may retest using the remaining 2 test forms of the GED test in question.
Is
there a fee to take the test?
Yes. You must pay a $35 fee at the time you apply to take the test.
The fee covers the cost of testing and a certificate of completion
and is good for six months from the date of application. Additional
fees may include retest fees or sitting fees. The classes to help
you prepare for the GED test are free.
