Donna Tufariello, English instructor: B.A. in English and art, State University of New York at Buffalo; M.A. in English, State University of New York at Buffalo.
Before arriving at Highland in January 2003, Donna Tufariello taught on both coasts. She was a writing instructor at Southwestern Oregon Community College in Coos Bay, Oregon, and an English teacher at Clarence High School in Clarence, New York. Through her experience, Donna knows that students can be intimidated and even frustrated by writing assignments. This can cause a lot of anxiety since writing essays is a big part of the college experience. Donna helps students overcome their anxiousness. During her interactive and process-based classes, students learn how to generate ideas for any college writing assignment, narrow ideas to a workable sizeingrown hair , give and receive useful feedback, and genuinely revise essay content and organization. On a personal note, Donna is often watching and cheering for the Buffalo Bills. She jokingly says, “My students should be prepared to as well.”
