Certified Nurse Assistant
The Highland certified nurse assistant program (Cert.) curriculum will prepare students to take the state certificate exam for nursing assistants. Upon successful completion of the exam, students may work as nursing assistants. The CNA program provides a foundation for all other nursing programs at HCC. Students learn valuable direct care skills. This certification program is offered every semester, including the summer session, at the main campus in Freeport. It is also offered at off-campus sites.

Associate Degree in Nursing
This (AAS) degree prepares students to take the the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX-RN). Upon successful completion of the exam, the student is eligible to become licensed as a registered nurse (RN).

Earn your ADN at night.
Because evening ADN students only have classes and practicum on weekday evenings, you can balance work, college, and family responsibilities with our ADN evening program. Pre-requisites must be completed prior to entry into the ADN program. All pre-requisites are also offered after 5 p.m.

This evening program was developed by Highland and FHN health care systems to address the shortage of skilled nursing professionals and is the only evening ADN program in the tri-state area of Iowa, Wisconsin, and Illinois.

Practical Nursing
The practical nursing program (Cert.) prepares students to take the NCLEX-PN exam. Upon successful completion of the exam, the student is eligible to become licensed as a practical nurse (LPN). HCC, aware of the need for knowledgeable professionals in this popular career, offers this one-year program every fall.
